Founder
Moran Cohen Dror
Founder of Sparrows
Mother of five, visionary and free spirit, Moran is the founder of Sparrows and shapes its community and education vision. A trained emotional therapist and naturopath, she co-led Drorim, a programme teaching young people entrepreneurship, financial literacy and an abundance mindset. Moran brings a rare mix of community building, deep human sensitivity and long-term vision.
“I want to build the kind of world my children, and yours, will grow up in.”
My story
I started my family young. At nineteen I set out on a journey to the United States, where I met my husband. Together we moved to England, then Spain, Belgium, Portugal and finally Cyprus. Our first daughter was born as we arrived in Spain, and our second soon after. By Belgium we were a family of five; by Portugal, six; and then seven.
Our children have been through almost every kind of education there is: mainstream schools, Waldorf, Montessori, international schools, IGCSE and IB, worldschooling, homeschooling and unschooling. We have seen what each one gives, and what each one misses.
Wherever we arrived, we built community. But every time, we had to start again from zero: get to know people, find friends, find support for ourselves and our children. And again and again we saw how few forms of education prepare children with the skills they truly need for life.
Seven years ago we founded Sparrows as a non-profit. For two years we worked with young people at risk and gave them the tools they needed to thrive. That work showed us what becomes possible when people are given community, purpose and real-life skills.
Sparrows today is the answer to everything we searched for in every country we lived in: a place where families arrive and belong, and where children grow into whole, capable, confident people.
